Shout Out to My Shelter of the Month: Chicago Cat Rescue

Hello, Namaste,

Today, I am giving a shout out to the  Chicago Cat Rescue which is located in Chicago, Illinois.

This shelter is committed to helping homeless cats and kittens by recuing them and through finding foster homes (and ultimately forever homes) for the cats and kittens. In addition to saving the cats, the Chicago Cat Rescue provides education for the humans that love the cats. They are doing an amazing job!

I encourage my readers to help this shelter by fostering or adopting a cat.  If you are not in the vicinity of this shelter, please consider helping out by making a donation.

Check out their website through the link below.

Purring Poetry: The Poem Cat

Greetings, Namaste,

Today’s poem was written by Erica Jong.

The Poem Cat

Sometimes the poem
doesn’t want to come;
it hides from the poet
like a playful cat
who has run
under the house
& lurks among slugs,
roots, spiders’ eyes,
ledge so long out of the sun
that it is dank
with the breath of the Troll King.

Sometimes the poem
darts away
like a coy lover
who is afraid of being possessed,
of feeling too much,
of losing his essential
loneliness-which he calls
freedom.

Sometimes the poem
can’t requite
the poet’s passion.

The poem is a dance
between poet & poem,
but sometimes the poem
just won’t dance
and lurks on the sidelines
tapping its feet-
iambs, trochees-
out of step with the music
of your mariachi band.

If the poem won’t come,
I say: sneak up on it.
Pretend you don’t care.
Sit in your chair
reading Shakespeare, Neruda,
immortal Emily
and let yourself flow
into their music.

Go to the kitchen
and start peeling onions
for homemade sugo.

Before you know it,
the poem will be crying
as your ripe tomatoes
bubble away
with inspiration.

When the whole house is filled
with the tender tomato aroma,
start kneading the pasta.

As you rock
over the damp sensuous dough,
making it bend to your will,
as you make love to this manna
of flour and water,
the poem will get hungry
and come
just like a cat
coming home
when you least
expect her.

A Cat Shares a Tea Joke

Hello,

I have mentioned in the past, how much I enjoy a cup of tea.  I particularly enjoy tea in a lovely tea cup.  So, being the punny kitty that I am, of course I have a tea joke to share, too.

So, here it is:

Waiter: “Tea or coffee, gentleman?”

First Customer:  “I’ll have tea.”

Second Customer:  “Me, too – and be sure the glass is clean!”

(Waiter exits and returns.)

Waiter: “Two teas.  Which one asked for the clean glass?”

Share Something Good Sunday

Hello All,

As I stated on my “about page”, my goal is to add something pleasant to the world. In that vein, I am starting Share Something Good Sundays.

I ask you to please, comment by sharing something nice in your life, something good that happened to you.  What is one thing for which you are grateful? Gratitude improves both physical and psychological health. It also improves mental strength and helps you sleep better.  Please share.

Please no flaming.

Thanks, Archimedes

P.S.  Don’t forget to sign up to follow my blog, so that you won’t miss any of my pleasantries.

This Cat Will Not Be Arrested

As previously  mentioned,  I am a budding pianist. I was recently asked to play in a hall. I’m off to a big city to perform before the world! So here I am with my travel bag and my sheet music. I’m very excited and only a little bit nervous. The room that I am to play in has a round dance floor.

This cat knows that he won’t be arrested because he’s good at staying out of treble!

Have a great day!  Archimedes

A Cat Contemplates the Piano

G’Day, Namaste!

I love playing the piano, and although I enjoy playing contemporary, my favorite music to perform is classical.  My favorite composer is Gershwin.

Do you like classical music?  If yes, please reply telling me who your favorite composer(s) is/are.

If you do not like classical music, please reply and tell me what type of music you like.

I can’t wait to hear from you, and don’t forget to sign up to follow this blog!

Thanks, Archimedes the Cat
